Country style cottage
To construct an architectural designed home with country/rustic charm, along with having an improved thermal efficiency and use of Low VOC products.
The project was completed in June 2019 slightly behind schedule, however the clients love the detail in the finishes provided and regardless of the delays are still happy with the finished product. There was an emphasis put on the use of zero or low VOC products and alternative glues and sealants were used along with some natural paints sourced from a supplier in Byron Bay. The external finish was a weathertex cladding using a cavity batten system to allow for insulative air gap, with a breathable wall wrap used against the timber frame. The internal living areas were constructed in brick veneer to increase thermal mass internally with a polished concrete slab also making it a thermally stable house internally. The brick was then finished in a bagged earthen clay render that remains unsealed and will allow the house to breathe naturally, while remaining thermally efficient.
The bedrooms were finished in timber lining boards to give a more natural/warm feeling then the brick, whilst also maintaining high insulative qualities.
Throughout the build, Rob and his team continued to impress us with their professionalism. Nothing was ever a problem and if met with any challenges, Rob would take the time to find a solution and talk us through it. He is an excellent communicator and kept us up to date with the project.
As the project was our own design, being involved in the build was also very important to us. Rob was a fantastic collaborator and worked closely with us to deliver an amazing result, bringing our vision to life and building us our dream home! We are extremely grateful and couldn’t recommend him highly enough.
